ATLANTA - Andre 3000 of OutKast has been chosen for a role in an upcoming sequel to the movie "Get Shorty."
The rapper, whose real name is Andre Benjamin, will appear in "Be Cool" as a member of a rap group called Dub MDs.
Other members of the movie's cast include John Travolta (news), Harvey Keitel (news), Danny DeVito (news), Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, James Gandolfini (news), Cedric the Entertainer and Uma Thurman (news). Shooting began this week in Los Angeles.
Benjamin joins a host of other rappers, including Ice Cube and LL Cool J, who are no strangers to film. Ice Cube has starred in the "Friday" and "Barbershop" movies, and LL Cool J has appeared in films including "Any Given Sunday" and "S.W.A.T."
Benjamin's first movie role was in last year's film "Hollywood Homicide," which starred Harrison Ford (news).
